1850-60s Significant 3-gallon Davidson Pottery Jar of DeKalb County Alabama that has just fantastic eye appeal in stellar form. The glaze on this example is nothing short of spectacular with strong strong runs that encase the entire Jar. This example is one of the finest Davidson examples Cagle Auction Company has ever offered at auction, and this example is truly a Cagle Top Shelf Example, examples of this magnitude will be extremely difficult to upgrade from. Condition: has 2 firing lines in the log handle that is fused together by the glaze and is not considered damaged among collectors. A few insignificant flakes, and one smile rim edge chip. The jar was shot with a BB and was plugged this can be easily seen on the inside of the jar. No other condition issues are present. Years ago, this example was documented by countryman Forbes and is pictured at the very bottom of Davidson DeKalb County, Alabama section. Provenance: A private middle Alabama stoneware collection.
