Monte Zuma Hughey Decorated Floral Sugar Bowl
Description
Significant Monte Zuma Hughey (1884-1964) Decorated Floral Sugar Bowl with original lid. Truly a monumental example this decorated Pansy floral original lidded Sugar Bowl is simply fantastic with outstanding eye appeal. Montezuma started making pottery before World War 2 when he went to work for his brother-in-law William Miller. He was one of the last to use salt glaze in Perry County Alabama. He is noted to use the Bristol glaze colored glazes salt and alkaline glazes and was one who did decorated examples. This example here is a Cagle Top Shelf Example and would display in any southern stoneware collection or museum. Condition: no damage, no chips cracks or repairs present. This is an investment/collector grade example, folks simply find another one this is the only one I have seen in person, two more documented examples exist but not in this condition.
