E.E. McPherson Sand Mountain Alabama Cream Riser
Description
Outstanding late 1800s E.E. McPherson Shop Sand Mountain Alabama (DeKalb County). Also note the example is in the Pottery from the Mountains of Alabama book page 19 (No.28). This is rich golden honey alkaline glaze double handle cream riser is just fantastic. This example also bears the classic thumbprint on the lower handle terminal, which is iconic to the sand mountain region of Alabama. Sand mountain has some of the finest clay in the world in this example right here truly rings like a bell. This example is a must for any Alabama stoneware enthusiast, and with the double handles this example has strong eye and collector appeal. Provenance: Years ago, this example was in the countryman Forbes collection and was traded for many years ago, now (present day) from a private central Alabama collection. Standing: 8" Tall x 13" Wide
Condition: Condition: One insignificant flake glaze on the loop handle, otherwise there are no other condition issues and no repairs present.
