Scarce Crawford Co. Billy Merritt Coffee Cup
Description
Scarce & Highly Important Crawford Co. Billy Merritt Coffee Cup. Extremely scarce example this Billy Merritt coffee cup is 1 of Crawford county’s most sought after forms and is definitely one of the top ten most sought after forms of utilitarian stoneware. This example truly defies what utilitarian stoneware is in which it shows a form that is still used tried and true today. Note the small dainty petite handle in semi bulbous form With a flaring top. This example has a nice modified lime and paint rock alkaline glaze that has very good eye appeal. Condition: as to be expected with this example especially cups that were used every day it does have rim restoration see pictures note the handle and body are all correct, no cracks and no chips are present. The restoration was done overall very good. Again these are extremely difficult examples to obtain due to the fact most of them are in such poor condition and are considered study examples. We would classify this example even with the condition as collector grade due to extreme scarcity. Provenance: private Georgia collection. Standing: 3 3/4" Tall x 4" Wide
