Great Crawford County, Georgia Emmett Merritt (1877-1937) Three Gallon Churn from the 1900s time period. Churns are one of the harder forms to find out of Crawford County, Georgia and this example has the classic fancy 3 stamped on the shoulder that is strongly identified to Middle Georgia Pottery. This example has a deep paint rock and lime alkaline glazed mixture that gives heavy runs all over the churn this example also has strong bat wing style handles that are attributed to Emmett upper and lower terminals. This example is a Cagle Top Shelf Example that has strong eye appeal and collector grade condition, this example is a gem mint 10 churn. Absolutely no flea bites, chips, cracks or repairs present. Provenance: fresh to the market example from an Alabama private collection. Standing: 15" Tall
