Southern Pottery & Folk Art Auction
Lot 48C:
Description
Significant 1840s Randolph Co. Alabama Pint Mini Jug. This example is highly significant due to the form and most importantly the size "Pint Size" This drug has a fantastic lime alkaline glaze with a tooled lip treatment and what’s very interesting about this little jug that it has no handle, not known why there is no handle or if it was just made for a quick sip. Again, one cannot state how important this little jug is, the maker that would be extremely difficult to almost impossible to identify unless we had a signed example. Condition few little inner the glaze flakes/flea bites and no major chips cracks or repairs present. Fresh example and the must for any Alabama Randolph County pottery collector. The odds of finding another one are slim to none. Standing: 6 1/8" Tall
